The CillianSite Basics

Another Cillian Murphy fansite? Cool! But why?

There are many great Cillian fansites out there, each with its own style and focus. The obsessive fans in us longed for a fansite that took a more journalistic approach and analysed Cillian's work, and thus The CillianSite was born. We hope you'll enjoy the result as much as we do.

Who are you people anyway?

The CillianSite Collective is composed of fans from Canada and the U.S.A. who share a profound admiration for Cillian Murphy's talent and work (okay, okay, and his good looks, too). The Collective owns, authors, and edits the site, with the assistance of a small, but growing staff of contributors. We always appreciate (and credit) when fans send us news tips and content for archiving, and we're always keeping an eye out for dedicated folks who want to get involved as staff contributors.

Do you know Cillian? Can you put me in touch with him?

Sorry to say we don't know Cillian. You can send fan letters to his agents—there's no guarantee you'll get a response, but you're welcome to give it a go. It's always a good idea to enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope or some international reply coupons if you hope for a reply. Write Cillian c/o:

Seriously, why are you doing this? Are you making money or something?

We wish! This is truly a labour of love, and The CillianSite Collective incurs all the site costs ourselves. In fact, because we've chosen not to have ads on our site, our costs are even higher than on other sites. If you'd like to help cover our expenses (and win our undying gratitude), please consider making a small donation via PayPal or mention us when you need a webhost.

I love/hate this site! And I've got ideas for making it better. How can I let you know?

We always love to hear feedback and constructive criticism. Write us at . We'll do our best to address your concerns and get back to you as quickly as we can.

What about technical problems? A page/link/other feature is giving me trouble.

We try to stay on top of this, but mistakes happen. If you have any problems of a technical nature, please e-mail us at .

About Our Content

The CillianSite has a lot of press articles posted. Can I copy them?

We're obsessive about collecting articles and interviews about Cillian. These are copyrighted by their original creators and are not our intellectual property—we make them available for the sole purpose of spreading the word about Cillian and his rising career. If you'd like to copy them for your personal use, please be sure to properly credit the original authors.

What about your news blog and other original content? Can I reprint your writing on my own site?

We put a lot of time and effort into creating original content for this site—everything from the blog our film reviews to the bio. As authors, we hold the copyrights to all of our original material. Therefore, we ask that people who want to copy our work follow a few simple rules.

If you want to quote or paraphrase anything of any length from our news blog, that's fine. If you want a sentence or two from anywhere else on the site, that's fine too. Just be sure to properly cite us as your source with a link back to The CillianSite and put any words reprinted verbatim in quotation marks.

If you want to republish more than a few sentences from other parts of the site (anything but the blog), you'll need to to ask permission first, and we will consider the individual situation. If we grant permission (which we very well might), we'll want you to keep the wording intact and attribute our site as the source (either "Written by The CillianSite Collective, reprinted by permission," or "Written by ____ for The CillianSite, reprinted by permission," if a specific author is listed), with a link back to us.

Please note: if you copy or closely rewrite our words without crediting us, this is plagiarism, and this is bad. And we will not be happy. Make us happy by properly crediting, putting any wording taken verbatim in quotations, and linking back to The CillianSite.

What about the photos? Can I use those for my site/icons/personal viewing pleasure?

Unless otherwise indicated, the photos are not ours; they belong to their creators and/or their agents. We're simply borrowing and archiving them to make them available to a wider audience. If you'd like to use them, please do so. Archiving takes time and money, so if you're posting them on a website, we'd appreciate a linked credit back to The CillianSite. If you are the photographer/owner of a picture and do not want it published here, please and we'll immediately remove it.

Yay! No site watermarks on your pictures. How come?

Personally, we hate those things—they're ugly and they block the image. And we don't believe we have the right to slap them on a picture that we didn't photograph ourselves or purchase from the photographer. So unless the picture came from the photobank with watermarks, you won't see them on our pictures.

Why aren't there pictures of Cillian's family? I want to see everything!

Cillian closely guards his personal life, especially his family. While we obviously adore looking at images of the man, we don't want to reward paparazzi stalking of Cillian's family when he's off duty. He and his family deserve some privacy—children in particular don't choose their parents and deserve public anonymity and harassment-free outings. So although you may occasionally see paparazzi shots of Cillian solo, you'll never see paparazzi snaps of his family.

How You Can Contribute

I have some Cillian-related pictures/articles that I don't see here. Do you want them?

Yes! We'd love them—and we'll credit you for your submissions. Please send them along to ! And if you know anything about the photographer/writers or where the photos/articles appeared, please be sure to include that info, too.

I just saw/met Cillian. Want to publish my story?

If you've met Cillian at a public event (no stalkers, please!), we'd love to hear about it. Send it to . We reserve the right to judge whether the story is appropriate for our site and all stories are subject to editing. Sometimes folks comment on our blog about encountering Cillian. Although we often post reports of his current working location in an effort to inform fans of opportunities to meet and/or work with Cillian, in no way do we encourage invasive behavior that violates his personal space and right to privacy. Because we don't want to endorse stalkerish behavior, we reserve the right to remove comments that we feel cross the line.

What about fanfic? Do you want my stories, or do you know where I can find any good Cillian-related fanfic?

There's a lot of fanfic out there. Some of us even write it (you'd have to judge whether it's any good or not), but we don't host it on the site. Exercise your Google-chi and you'll find what you're looking for.

I love Cillian icons/wallpapers/videos/art. Can I find them/submit them here?

Because there's just so much fanart being created, we've chosen not to spend too much of our time curating them. Feel free to send us links to your own fan art, or even your favourite creations by another fan, because we may post it if we are struck by something highly unusual and beautiful. Even so, it's unlikely that we will ever pretend to be a comprehensive archive for fan art. There are many other online forums and fansites where you can find Cillian icons, wallpapers, and fan videos.

Do you have a forum?

No, and we have no plans to start one. There are several online forums where you can interact with other Cillian fans. We've chosen to focus on Cillian's presence in the wider media. But we always welcome your comments on our news blog.
