Watching the Detectives (2007, Genius, unrated, $20)

Both Cillian Murphy and Lucy Liu are known for their intensity so it's a kick to see them loosen up in this scruffy romantic comedy about a video store clerk who falls for a woman addicted to practical jokes. Despite the stars' relaxed chemistry—and nifty supporting turns by Saturday Night Live's Jason Sudeikis and Michael Panes—the film begins repeating itself long before its predictable finale.
