An emotionally shut-off hottie (handsome Irish newcomer Murphy) lands in the hands of a patient psychotherapist (Rea). The comparison to Good Will Hunting is not lost on director-cowriter John Carney, who references the 1997 Matt Damon-starrer in his heartfelt teen-suicide drama (exec-produced by In the Name of the Father's Jim Sheridan). The story's a little stale (see also Girl, Interrupted), but Carney freshens the plot with moving, honest performances from the young cast and a smart soundtrack featuring U.K. grooves from the Jam, Supergrass, and David Gray.
