NY ♥s Misterman

Misterman

Misterman opened last week at St. Ann's Warehouse in New York, and critics are straining their thesauri to come up with superlatives to describe this unique theatrical experience—and Cillian's talent. Theatermania.com says Cillian gives a "blazingly raw performance", and The New York Times says that none of Cilly's previous performances "anticipate the dizzying breadth and concentration of this one." (We think they liked it.)

Cillian has also been doing interviews about the play, with Theatermania.com and this more detailed, revealing one with The Wall Street Journal.

If you're in the New York area, St. Ann's is having a "virtual rush" contest where you can win tickets for the way-low price of $25. Good luck!

Will Misterman be coming to Australia? I have read such good reviews and would love to see it. Even better if Cillian Murphy toured down here with it. I think I would explode with pure excitement and happiness :)

I know how you guys feel! I flew across country last Thursday to see it and was amazed! I think the sound and lighting designers deserve as many kudos as Cillian and Enda do! I walked out wanting to go right back and see it again! It's too bad that you can't view it multiple times like you can a movie on dvd. Well, I suppose if you live in NY, you can! I'm just so glad they brought it to the US! Can't wait to see what he does next!

@ Erin- That's fantastic. I know what you mean. I'm a little depressed too, now that it's over. I was the same way, just really excited leading up to and during it. It was totally phenomenal. I hope he comes back soon to the US at some point soon too. I know if and when he does, I'll be there.

@ Nicole - I was there Saturday night too. It was amazing. I was so jazzed from August until December leading up to my trip and now that it is over I'm a little depressed. Hope he comes back to do something else in the States soon.

Absolutely devastated can't make it to see yet another phenomenal Cillian performance (since Love Song). But it's great to read all the fantastic reviews and really happy - but not surprised in the least - that this sold out so quickly. Way to go!

I saw the play last Saturday, the 10th, and hands down, it was the most incredible thing I've ever done. The play is amazing, and Cillian Murphy is without doubt the best actor in Hollywood today. Not to mention, easily the most handsome. You have to go see this play if you haven't. His performance is out of this world. The way his transitions from one character to another, how natural he is, his incredible timing and emotion. He's absolutely brilliant and deserves to be a WAY bigger star in the US then he is. It's ridiculous how tickets on Broadway cost upwards of $300 for anywhere near the front, and I got tickets in the very front row for $55 to see Cillian who, no offense to the actors on Broadway, is way more talented then any of them. You're literally right on the stage with him. He was five feet in front of me. The play was both funny and immensely poignant, with amazing writing, and it really shows Cillian's abilities, what he's really capable of. Definitely go see if if you can. I felt bad, because when the play ended, no one in the audience was sure if that was really the end, because the lights just cut, so it took about 30 seconds of silence before someone started clapping and the rest followed. And Cillian was up there, just waiting the whole time. I was going to start clapping, but I was worried about being wrong, haha. But I felt bad, because I didn't want him to think we didn't absolutely adore the play and his performance. Because I can safely say everyone there did.
