What was your first Cillian experience?

Earlier this month we asked our Facebook fans to tell us about the first time they discovered Cillian. The response has been fantastic! We love hearing Cilly's fans' stories and we'd love to hear yours too! Head over to our Facebook page (or leave a comment below!) and tell us in which short, play, or film you first discovered Cillian. When?

Suzanne has been kind to share her story here. Hopefully it will inspire you to share yours!

The first time I really noticed Cillian was when I saw him in Inception. But that was not the first time I'd seem him. The first time was Red Eye, back when I thought he was "Sillian" Murphy. I saw it on TV, and I didn't like him at all! I thought he was strange-looking, mostly because of those big, high cheek bones, I think. Plus, he was such a mean, creepy character. Then last July, I went to see Inception. In the movie when they opened the door to the room where he first appeared with his dying dad and he turned around, I thought: "There's that guy! Who is he?" I had gone from disliking him to being interested and intrigued. I made sure I knew his name, then when I went on my computer I started a search. It eventually led my to The CillianSite (It was still "sillian site" to me; I'm Irish, you'd think I'd know better.) Between your site and IMDb.com, I found out just about everything I wanted to know and more. And I loved your picture galleries. Before I knew it, I was hooked on Cillian Murphy (make that "Killian")! Now I own most of his movies. How could I ever not like this guy?

Watching the detectives

A few years ago I watched this dvd only to discover the most refreshing romantic comedy ever and a very handsome man that made me laugh the entire movie. I remember thinking this guy is hilarious, so funny, he can really act comedy . So I memorized his name and decided to look him up in other movies. After watching Disco Pigs and On the edge I was almost convinced that Cillian could play any kind of role no matter the genre. That soon proved to be true with his outstanding performances in 28 days later and Breakfast on Pluto. At this point I was hooked and felt like I must see everything he starred in. Long story short I watched almost all of his movies and never been disappointed. Although is not my favorite Cillian movie Watching the detectives will always be dear to me cause it had introduced me to the brilliant Mr.Murphy and his natural talent for acting wich made me become a fan of his work.

Batman Begins/Inception

I first saw him in Batman Begins, but it wasn't until that exact moment Cillian rips off his mask all flustered (oh those lucious red lips, piercing cheekbones and icy eyes...) that it hit me. Before that scene, I thought he was quite creepy, but it hit me like a wave how attractive he actually is.

Then it wasn't until Inception that I was reminded of him. He was such a treat for the eyes in that movie! Now I'm watching all of his old movies, and wow, can this man act. Talented and attractive...lethal combination. I'm forever a Cillian Murphy fan (oh alright...fangirl).

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is how I noticed Cillian too!
I hadn't seen him in Red Eye though.
I (jeez, this is embarrassing..) I had a dream about him. It was just him... sitting somewhere. I don't even know where. He was just there. I thought his name was pronounced Sillian until I read somewhere that it is Killian...
THE END...

First Cillian moment

I was watching the movie Red Eye I had rented, and thought the actor was amazing as Jack Ripner. But then I was watching the special features at the end and there's an interview with Cillian and I died on the spot. I could not believe how beautiful he was, like a sunset. As corny as that sounds. Then I watched the movie "28 Days Later" which is one of my all-time favourites, and his "Jim" was wonderful. I couldn't stop watching him...then as Dr. Johnathan Crane, with that face and those glasses...whew! I bought the movie and like a kid, kept pausing whenever his face was on screen. I think I've watched everything he's been in and have a bad case of Cillianitis. He's about the best actor I've ever seen, and the most beautiful person. Anyone who could be that pretty as a man and a woman has got something. I would love to talk to him someday. I have never had a celebrity crush in my life and now I do, at the age of 40 (something) I fell in love with an actor.

The day i discovered Cillian Murphy happened earlier this year. I was in an obsessive zombie movie phase and 28 days later had great reviews. I went to walmart and purchased 28 days and weeks later...
Returning home i watched the movie, and after that i was astonished at this acting abilities and this unique looks! Now i am determined to see all of his movies before this year is over<3

Batman Begins / Girl With a Pearl Earring
Reply #14 on : Sun December 11, 2011, 14:37:26
The first time I ever saw Cillian (Sillian, right? haha)was in Batman Begins, back in 2005. I did not really know how I felt about him, exactly, I sort of sensed there was something unique about his features, and something "icy" about his gaze, the colour of his eyes (I don't know how else to put it). We can say that I was entranced, especially since I was 15. Then, some time later, I saw him in the Red Eye trailer, and I just thought: "ohhh, wait! That guy from Batman!! Well that's great to see him again!" (I always like it when I see actors that I had not imagined in the first place to see again in other movies to reappear unexpectedly :)). But I didn't go see it, I was not accustomed to go to the movies at the time, but there he was, on my mind. Same thing when I saw the trailer for "The Wind That Shakes the Barley".
But the thing that triggered it for me was definitely Girl With a Pearl Earring... (I know it's not chronological but hey... ^^). At that point, I was more aware of the guy, and I experienced that same heart-warming feeling about seeing him again :). The part that he played... Mysterious while quite curious at the same time, I don't know, it just made a huge impression on me. Time went on, and then I went to see Inception at the cinema, and there he was, him again!! But I think it's really when seeing Girl With a Pearl Earring for the second time around that I got the Cillian Murphy obssession. I was reading the book at the same time, and I kept picturing him in the role haha (the power of imagination, indeed!). Ever since, I kept on searching information on him(learned the accurate pronunciation of his name :p), and I have to say this made me love him all the more... I am, however, a bit frustrated that most of his films actually did not go out in France... I believe this is why people don't know him that much in my circle of friends, and family.
Anyhow, I went to see In Time about two weeks ago (this one was released, yay!) almost just because Cillian was in it, and he made a big impression on the 21-year-old that I am. Again. He never ceases to amaze me :)

I really love your website, it contains all that there is to know about Cillian and his projects, and I am so grateful some people take the time to update it and keep it alive! If I'm not mistaken, I think it must be, more or less, the only source of info on Cillian apart from IMDb, isn't it? Thanks again for your work :)

PS: I just realized this article was published right on my last birthday haha, coincidence? I think not :p (jokes).
