Hey everyone! Rin here. The CillianSite hasn't been updated for some time — apologies! To make up for the absence, I've got quite a bit of news to share.
Unfortunately, I must start off with some bad news: Hippie Hippie Shake has been shelved for cinematic release and will most likely be released directly to video. Universal Pictures decided not to release the film in theatres due to the portrayal of the main character Neville, (played by Cillian), who was formatted as a different character in the film than the character in Richard Neville's memoir by the same name. You can check out more information on it here.
Next up, fans of Tron will be excited to hear that several short films promoting Tron 3 will be released onto the internet. The first short of several has already arrived (watch here!) and is included on the Blu-ray of Tron: Legacy. A second short is rumored to be hidden on the Blu-ray which could confirm that Cillian will return as Ed Dillinger Jr. Tron: Legacy was released on DVD and Blu-ray April 5th, 2011.
Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the Spanish national theatrical release of Red Lights, a film about a psychologist (played by Sigourney Weaver) and her assistant (Cillian) "whose study on paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic" (played by Robert De Niro). Red Lights will be released in Spain and the U.S. sometime in 2012. Check out the teaser poster!
On a separate note, Cillian's head was recently sculpted by Johnny Cheung, a Costa Rican ceramic artist. The heads are no longer available for purchase, but make sure you take a look! You don't see this everyday. In addition to Cillian, fellow Inception actors Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy have also been graced with having their heads sculpted.
Cillian was added as #8 on MSNBC's list of the Best Irish Celebrities! It isn't a ranking, but at least our man is on the list! Cillian was, however, ranked #6 on Beaut.ie's list of the "50 Fine Things 2011". Not bad! Whoohoo!
We've also added some older pics of Cillian to our Photoshoots archives. Drop by and take a look! Cillian was interviewed by the Irish Tattler back in 2010 and we've added it to our Feature Stories Section. Don't miss it!
