Bounty-ful TIFF: premiere, pics, plot

As The Globe and Mail and many news outlets are reporting, for the first time in a while, a Cillian premiere is on its way: will screen at Toronto International Film Festival, which runs 10–19 September. Perrier's will make its international debut as part of TIFF's "Special Presentations" slate. Ireland Online reports that Cillian will walk TIFF's red carpet—send us your snapshots, fans!

An exciting bonus of Perrier's new visibility: we've added the newly released publicity stills to our gallery page for the film. More plot details are also illuminated on TIFF's Perrier's page:

When Michael’s (Cillian Murphy) debt to Dublin kingpin Darren Perrier (Brendan Gleeson) is called in and one of Perrier’s goons accidentally ends up dead, Michael escapes to the mountains with his father Jim (Jim Broadbent) and best friend, Brenda. Flat broke, on the run and with only 24 hours to pay up, Michael is forced to confront his true feelings for Brenda and make amends with his father. However, with Perrier and his gang in hot pursuit, time is running out for Michael and only fate, a bit of luck and possibly a gang of savage dogs will save him, in this cracking gangster comedy.

The Number 9 Films site adds this layer:

Unwittingly interrupting Perrier’s goons whilst they are beating Michael, his recently dumped and emotionally unstable friend Brenda accidentally shoots one of them dead.

Last, if you haven't seen it already, ScreenDaily.com ran a behind-the-scenes article on Perrier's in March. Among other things, it clarifies that the lead was originally intended for Cillian, and that James McAvoy was a second choice, not an upstart replacement:

Casting also saw some problems: the film-makers had earmarked Murphy but at the time he was unavailable. James McAvoy was offered the role but pulled out—just as Murphy had a window.

"Financing is all about casting and it always has been," says [producer Stephen] Woolley. "The game is such that nobody wants to put up any money unless you get your star attached. Suddenly Cillian was free so we had to work, lickety-split."

Thanks to Nairin78 for the Perrier's Bounty news article and Number 9 links.

Hello Friends!
I've been combing the TIFF websites and media galleries the past few days! I found this a few moments ago!
Enjoy (That is, if you can even concentrate on what he's saying - those blue eyes are sooo distracting!)

Hi I just meant I bought ten passes for the film festival. Also I am aware that the list of movies don't come out until august 20th. I was just excited that I am possibly going to see him and unlike last year I waited in line for rush tickets to see the movies .But thanks for your comments. You are right no cigar for me.

Hey Nemo, let's please try to keep some civility here. Suzanne did say "movies" plural. And I believe it is already possible to buy passes for the whole festival.

Gee, Suzanne, that's kind of amazing-- since the draw for the ticket packages doesn't begin until August 25, and single tickets for all films don't go on sale until September 4. What day is "Perrier's Bounty" showing, dear--? Oh, that's right: you can't possibly know, because the film schedule won't be posted until August 20. Nice try, missy, but no cigar.

I hope Peacock makes it to TIFF, too! I think it's definitely TIFF material. Two Cillian films at TIFF... that would be so awesome. :)

The full film list will be online August 20. Maybe "Peacock" will still make the cut, too!
