The CillianSite still in limbo, but new things afoot
As we blogged on New Year's Day, The CillianSite is understaffed. As regular readers have doubtlessly already surmised, currently we are not able to consistently blog Cillian news as it breaks, but we're not giving up just yet. This entry was spearheaded by a new staffer, dkan71, and we've had multiple inquiries from folks interested in helping out. This has always been a group effort, so we appreciate everyone's continued interest and support now more than ever. We'll just have to see what is possible in the coming months. Perhaps with Cillian's coming releases, new fan energy will carry The CillianSite forward in a new way.
Cillian in talks for Christopher Nolan's Inception

At the Empire Awards
Variety reported last week that Cillian is in negotiations to join the cast of a new Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento) project that has Leonardo DiCaprio attached as the lead. Entitled Inception, it's loosely described as a "contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind." The studio is also looking to cast Marion Cotillard, Oscar winner for La Vie en Rose, and Ellen Page (Juno, Peacock).
Dark Knight award acceptance
Speaking of Chris Nolan, Cillian just accepted a Best Film Empire Award on his behalf for The Dark Knight. You can check out his typically modest appearance over on YouTube.
One week to watch Cillian's new short, The Water!
The Water, a Cillian short film we blogged about in November, directed by Broken Social Scene's leader, Kevin Drew and inspired by his girlfriend Feist's song of the same name is finally available online from Pitchfork.com—but only for a week!
We've archived two ambivalent reviews from Entertainment Weekly and Torontoist.com, as well as an interview with Cillian about making the film. In the interview with IFC.com, Cillian tells the story of The Water, but in a sad aside, it's also revealed that he is mourning the loss of a family member. Pitchfork also features a making-of-the-film video where Feist and Drew discuss working with Cillian.
The Edge of Love finally released in U.S. theaters
Cillian's latest movie, The Edge of Love, long-awaited by American fans, opened in the U.S.A. in mid-March, with a limited release. The film opened to mostly lukewarm reviews (RottenTomatoes.com shows only a 38% approval rating), though the performances by Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, and Cillian have largely been praised. Film.com credits Cillian with an "easy grace [that] very nearly steals the film." Metromix New York has an interview with Cillian in which he discusses his Edge character and also talks about the phenomenal success of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire. He's also interviewed about the film by MovieWeb.com.
No word as yet on a wider U.S. theatrical release or DVD release date.
Thanks to NancyKerrigan for the tip on the Jameson Empire Awards and to Lillianetty for urging us on.
