Keira on Cillian + Cillian lauded in Edge reviews

Keira jumped at the chance to wed Cillian—on film

When interviewed for Herald.ie, Keira Knightley gave two major reasons for choosing to act in a period piece so soon after Atonement: she'd get the chance to work with The Jacket's director John Maybury again, and her own mother, Sharman MacDonald, wrote the script. She then added another reason that any Cillian fangirl would approve:

And let's not forget I get to marry Cillian Murphy in this film. That's not something any sensible young actress could turn down.

I think we can all agree!

Reviewers single out Cillian's Edge performance

Even more reviews of The Edge of Love are in. From a Cillian fan's standpoint, the best review came from The Sun, which outright names William Killick as the film's best character. Although the reviewer praises the performances of Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley,

[T]hey are all overshadowed by the increasingly outstanding Cillian Murphy ... as Vera's lover William. Unlike director John Maybury, his powerful presence makes film-making look effortless.

Eye for Film also highlighted Cillian's role as the best part of The Edge of Love.

[I]t was Cillian Murphy's traumatised sergeant who stole the film. In all of his films he's had a bit of a light around him as an actor with a truthful simplicity in his gestures and mannerisms. You can't take your eyes off him in every scene he's in, even when he's in the background ...

Another reviewer's opinion of Cillian's acting talent was completely redeemed by his performance in Edge. Female First stated:

A mention must be made of Cillian Murphy, arguably the least well-known of the famous foursome, but the actor who consistently delivers flawed performances. ... Cillian is absolutely astounding as the soldier, and is just as convincing in the romantic scenes as he is in the distressing war scenes. He, undoubtedly, saves the film from being just a movie containing the tabloid favourites of today, and turns it into an extraordinarily intense period drama.

View London, GQ U.K., and The List also all printed four out of five star reviews.

flawed or flawless?

Hmmm. I wonder if the author didn't make a mistake, saying Cillian gives consistently "flawed" performances. Personally, I think she meant flawless, and let's face it...that would make more sense from our master actor anyway.

i just think she said it so people would take an interest in cillian. Not many people are fimiliar with him so it would help the film if he were mentioned by someone like her.

I just love it how Kiera goes total fangirl when she talks about getting to work with Cillian.

It's so cute how she just can't seem to contain herself...;)

Yay Kiera!

Cant wait to see this film. About Keira, she's defenetly right! I WOULD LOVE TO MARRY HIM ON A MOVIE, not in real life oviously, cause he got Yvonne, hehe. Anyway, I hope he makes another amazing job with this character as well. BRAVO CILLIAN!
