New Cillian and Keira photo + first Edge reviews

Capitol using new web banner featuring Cillian

Capitolfilms.com has changed the banner photo for their The Edge of Love page to a picture much to any Cillian fan's liking. Although the still is only an expanded shot of the love scene teased in the trailer, it is a welcome addition to our Edge production stills gallery.

The first two Edge reviews are in—and unenthusiastic

Empire seems to be the first film magazine to have reviewed Edge. Unfortunately, the reviewer was not thoroughly impressed, stating lack of character development as a reason for the 3 out 5 stars rating:

It is most successful in its first half. Maybury paints a tragically romantic vision of war-torn London ... [then] [t]he setting shifts from the sultry smoke of London to the damp wool of coastal Wales, leaving the script to make up for the sudden halt in beauty. ... It becomes apparent that beneath their hedonistic crust, the characters haven’t been given any complexity, so dissecting them just as circumstance kills their lifestyle reveals little more than exhausted livers, bile and twitchy libidos.

The U.K. edition of Marie Claire posted a similar review of 3 stars, but their reviewer cites poorly-written dialogue as the film's fault. Neither review made mention of Cillian's performance, so let's hope that his skill will be seen as a high point in future reviews!
