Detectives not until April? + Cillian and Sly?!?

Soter says release will be delayed

Since we've gotten so close to the reported Valentine's Day limited release in the U.S. for Watching the Detectives, and I've seen no promotion for Cillian's next film other than the trailer being released on the Internet, I decided to do some digging. Looks like the movie may not be coming out next week after all. On 16 January, Detectives director Paul Soter blogged on his comedy troupe Broken Lizard's MySpace page:

... and some of you have kindly inquired about my movie, Watching the Detectives. I had been told initially that it would be given a limited release in mid-February, but now I'm hearing more like April. Unfortunately that's often the deal with indie films. I'll give you info as I get it ...

As will The CillianSite—stay tuned.

Cillian and Stallone rumor

Here's a weird one: according to Dark Horizons, Sylvester Stallone is set to star as a hitman in the $40 million remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film, The Mechanic, and MGM is going after Ryan Gosling, Ben Foster, Elijah Wood and Cillian for the role of Stallone's protege. Can you imagine Cillian actually taking the part?

You're so right. Let's keep hope alive. And yeah, Cillian and Christopher Walken in a movie would be great, they could play father and son.

Happy Valentine's Day Everbody

Awww maaan!!! WTD is delayed? I guess I have to make other plans for Valentines day. Oh well, I'll just do what I did when Sunshine didn't get released by it's original reported date--I'll keep hope alive. I hope WTD will eventually be released and, when it is, I will be at the theatre waiting like a true Cillian fan-girl. Btw, Cillian and Christopher Walken in a movie together would indeed be AWSOME.

If Christopher Walken and Cillian were in a movie together...that would be orgasmic.

Well, in this case, it all turned out to be a mishap and a misunderstanding.

Well that makes sense and i apologize for accussing you of lying. but you have to understand from my view point it did seem like you lied it the time and then when i was accused of lying it really set me off. So it's was just one big misunderstanding. it just goes to show that truth is eternal though. No one lied lol well i do enjoy your site keep up the good work . now we all can get back to what is really important and that's Cillian lol

I might well be the only person here who has seen the original version of The Mechanic- it is a BRILLIANT film. I can VERY much see Cillian stepping into the role that Jan Michael Vincent played in 1972- and I know he would give an incredible performance. My only problem with this is that Stallone would be his mentor - yeesh... I'm thinking someone like Christopher Walken would be much better.

Last night before I responded to you, I searched my Gmail for your name and turned nothing up. This morning, after reading your subsequent comments, I instead first went into my Spam folder and then searched for your name and I *did* find your email! Well, I guess I've learned that a regular search on Gmail does not include Spam.

I guess we both accused each other of lying, but the fault lies with Gmail's spam filter. As Cillian fans both concerned about the release date, we were both Googling, and both found the same post by Paul Soter. I didn't credit you, because I didn't hear about it from you, due to the fact that I didn't get your email in my Inbox.

But I do appreciate your trying to reach us. I have whitelisted you, so now your email will not go to my Spam folder. I just wonder what other legitimate email Gmail has screened out. The CillianSite's email addresses get oodles of junk every day, so there's no way we can go through it. We answer all of the fan mail that we're aware of, so I encourage anyone who doesn't hear back from us to comment and ask if we've received your message. (Accusing us of lying straight out of the gate doesn't really help.)

Still, I'm sorry for the confusion! I hope you haven't been discouraged by this technical mishap. If we hear of something first from a fan who emails us, we always credit.
