IFC Blog on Cillian + upcoming Feist video

The IFC Blog disses Cillian in Detectives trailer

Dismiss me as just a Cillian fan—and I'm obviously guilty as charged—but isn't this comment from The IFC Blog off the mark?

Cillian Murphy plays a video store clerk and Lucy Liu an iteration of that crazy, kooky girl who pops in to bring adventure and love to the life of a repressed movie protagonist in Watching the Detectives—trailer's here, and interesting mostly for its peek at Murphy attempting awkwardly to play light.

Seems like a rush to judgment—or to reinforce typecasting. Grumble, grumble. Go observe the rakish charms of Cillian in On the Edge, IFC Blog, then get back to me.

Cillian to appear in Feist video

The fab lesbian/bi site AfterEllen.com reports that Cillian will appear in Feist's forthcoming video for her song "The Water," which will be like "a short film." In last year's Under the Radar interview with Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene, Cillian told Feist's sometime bandmate that he's a big fan of hers, so perhaps some friendships came out of that interview. "The Water" is a mood piece quite unlike Feist's hit "1234"; to hear it, check out its "webisode" video on her site. For more on Cillian's music tastes, see our Extras page, "What's on Cillian's Playlist?".

Woooooh, BSS is AWSOME! I like Feist's song, "The Water" it's really nice(I kinda envy her, but in a good way). I'm sure it will be a beautiful video(Cillian is beautiful). I normally agree with IFC, but yeah, IFC is waaaay off the mark on this one. As far as awkward goes, of course Cillian would play Neil as awkward, but that awkwardness makes the character real. Thanks for making the preview available. The "Watching the Detectives" trailer is really funny, but Soter has been involved with some really hilarious movies in the past. I'm loving the bathtub scene btw.

Yeah I saw it in Ft. Worth too and thought he was really funny. To be honest I was surprised because I like him so much better when he's bad! :-)

Yay Feist. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully it's more than a little cameo.

wow..."trying to play light"? umm, i saw the movie when it came to fort worth and i thought he was amazing. i'm obviously biased though. but my friend who went with me loved it and him, so i definitely disagree with IFC.
