Edge DVD screen caps, European release dates

The Edge of Love is now out on DVD in the U.K., and we've scoured the film to make screen captures of all of Cillian's scenes. The Region 2 DVD includes a gag reel and deleted scenes, both of which we've capped as well. Four of the seven deleted scenes feature Cillian, which, luckily for us, director John Maybury chose to include in (at least this version of) the DVD's extras.

The Edge of Love is still being released theatrically in Europe; IMDb lists release dates for Greece (6 November), Romania (14 November), and Belgium (26 November). We've archived a colorful Romanian poster for the film in the gallery.

Something a bit encouraging for American fans: IMDb still states that the U.S. is scheduled for a limited release in March 2009.

I went to see this at the Cinema in June, it's the first time I've ever seen Cillian in anything and I thought he was brilliant. I've watched all of his films since and I think he's one of the best actors that I've seen. I enjoyed the film, it was quite old fashioned and terribly British. I've bought a copy for my sister for Christmas, hope she likes it!

Can I just say THANK YOU to the persons who got all these fantastic screen captures? I was only lukewarm about seeing this movie... until now. Having gone through all of these great images, I am now excited about the prospect of seeing this film someday- Cillian looks beyond intense in it. WOW.

I bought the region 2 DVD from Amazon-UK and except for CM's scenes I can't say I was all that impressed. I think it will have a very difficult time here in the U.S. if/when it's released. To my eye it seemed as if the film couldn't make up its mind to what it wanted to be: was it about lost love, two women who forge an unusual friendship, coming to terms with war, what a jerk Dylan Thomas was, first love -vs- last love, a man driven mad by what he saw during the war......it was just all over the place. I felt the ending, when CM's character returns from the war, were his best scenes. He was finally given something to do and of course he did it well. I'm thinking particularly of the scene where he is in the bar and listening to Thomas and his arrogant friends talk about something he'd witnessed first hand. I didn't leave the film knowing anymore about Dylan Thomas than I did when I started watching it - other than he had a seriously dysfunctional marriage and a very rude demeanor. I didn't sense when Vera really decided she loved William and I was completely perplexed as to why she would sleep with Dylan when he wasn't really offering her anything meaningful - was she just lonely? Did she need to hit it just one more time to get him out of her system? Prove to herself that she could and would do it?

Anyway - I don't think anyone other than big fans of the actors in the film would have gone to see it and only true fans of the actors would have found anything to enjoy about it. I own it now but I don't think I'll be watching it again anytime soon.

Bring on 'Peacock' and 'Hippie Hippie Shake'...!!
