BIFA loss

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) were held on 28 November. Cillian was nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance as Capa in Sunshine but lost to Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises). Sunshine did not go home empty handed as Mark Tildelsey won the award for Best Technical Achievement.

There was more good news for Sunshine the film, however: Variety has the list of nominees for the 2007 Satellite Awards and Tildelsey received a nomination in the Art Direction & Production Design category.

I honestly thought Cillian would've won for best actor if it weren't for Eastern Promises. I haven't seen Eastern Promises yet, but I am familiar with Viggo Mortensen's work and Cillian was up against some stiff competition. I do agree with Nancy in Sunshine winning the Best Technical Acheivement award--Sunshine was spectacular.

Awww, sucks that he lost but I'm glad Sunshine got an award for artistic and technical things. I mean, haveing seen the film, Mark does deserve that award.
