BIFA nomination + AskMen.com Man of the Week

Another BIFA nomination for Cillian

The British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) have announced their nominations for 2007, and Cillian has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a British Independent Film for his role as Capa in Danny Boyle’s Sunshine. This is Cillian's second BIFA nomination, having been nominated last year for his performance as Damien in The Wind that Shakes the Barley.

Cillian faces stiff competition from his fellow nominees Jim Broadbent (When Did You Last See Your Father), Sam Riley (Control), Viggo Mortensen (Eastern Promises), and Jamie Bell (Hallam Foe).

Sunshine's production designer Mark Tildesley was also nominated for Best Technical Achievement. The awards ceremony takes place in London on 28 November, and we congratulate Mark and Cillian and wish them good luck.

Cillian not among the Top 49

Several weeks ago we asked you to vote for Cillian in the AskMen.com's Top 49 men poll. Unfortunately Cillian didn't make it into the top 49; however he is currently being featured as their Man of the Week.

Looking through the gallery on this site, I have to say that Cillian was at his most gorgeous in 'Sunshine'. He is gorgeous anyway, but he looked particularly beautiful in that movie.

"It's easy to take the check, you know, but if you want to have any longevity, just take things that have artistic merit in them. I want to do quality. If it's good telly, I'll do it. If it's good theater, I'll do it."
