Barley DVD out tomorrow

The Region 1 (North American) DVD of The Wind That Shakes the Barley will be released tomorrow. Unlike the 2-disc version released last year for Region 2 players, this is a single disc that includes commentary by director Ken Loach and a retrospective of Loach's career.

Three great new features in press archive

We've added some great articles that you'll want to take some time to read. You may remember back in April when we told you about Under the Radar's feature, "Cillian Murphy vs. Kevin Drew." In this lively interview, Cillian talks to one of his musical heroes, Kevin Drew, founder of Broken Social Scene. This is a different kind of interview, and it's wonderful to see Cillian relax and just have fun with it.

Covering such varied topics as whether Cillian's often mistaken for a vampire to the friendly rivalry between Cork and Dublin as well as an in-depth glimpse into Cillian's musical tastes, we're proud to finally be able to present this article that all Cillian fans will want to read in full. You can read the transcript or see the scans. And don't miss Wendy Lynch's gorgeous photoshoot that accompanied the article.

Also added to our press archive is an article from The Big Issue, the international publication that works with homeless people around the world. Unlike his usual reticent self, Cillian is incredibly forthcoming in this article as he talks about life as a celeb and remembers his days as a wannabe rock star. Read the article or take a look at the article scans.

There's also a short article from the Irish Echo in July. Not much new here, but he does talk about the evolution of his working relationship with Danny Boyle and how, after 28 Days Later..., it was nice it was to work on Sunshine with its "proper budget."

Thanks to CelticGrl for the generous donation!

Yea!! I now have my DVD of TWTSTB to add to my ever-growing collection of Cillian Murphy movies. I do have "Carry On Ken" included with the region 1 disk. I love it when Cillian mentions tree-legged dogs--I thought I was the only one to notice this in many of Ken Loach's films. Now if I can only get my mitts on the DVD of Sunshine.

I can't say for sure. I have the Region 2 discs, and Disc 2 is just Carry On Ken (the profile of Ken Loach), the trailer, and a photography gallery. The Region 1 disc is also supposed to include Carry On Ken. I'll be curious to compare the two.

Omg, Omg, oh, oh, ohhh!!!! You have sooo made my day. I will buy TWTSTB tomorrow. I really loved this movie(I cried many times throughout the movie--it was so moving). I guess my only question is, will the region1 single-disk be missing any footage that the region2 2-disk might have? I don't want to miss anything. Now I just have to wait for the release of Sunshine on disk.
