Cillian to judge TCM shorts competition

Cillian's been invited to judge TCM's eighth annual Turner Classic Shorts Competition, alongside other prestigious names in the film world such as actor Simon Pegg, director Lasse Hallström, and Breakfast on Pluto producer Stephen Woolley. About the judges, TCM says:

Each year TCM receives outstanding support from key players in the film and entertainment industry who agree to give up their valuable time and share their experience and expertise as our film competition judges.

The competition runs from 1 May to 1 August; the winners will be announced at a special program in November.

Cillian is no stranger to this competition. Watchmen, the short film he wrote (along with Paloma Baeza) and starred in (alongside Barry Ward) was nominated for one of the TCM awards in 2001.

This is such cool news. TCM is the only channel I watch (seriously: I am an old movie NUT). One thing: wonder if they'll ever see clear to broadcasting-- or rebroadcasting-- or packaging-- the entries...? Would be great to have a (legit!) copy of "Watchmen"....

Possibly, but it's definitely not a sure thing. In the past some judges have attended the awards ceremony to congratulate the winners. The shorts are broadcast during the TCM Classic Shorts weekend, and interviews with the finalists are also shown then, so it's not out of the question that part of the awards ceremony might be shown. Whether Cillian would show up or not, though, I don't know. He seems to avoid those kinds of events.

Awesome! Does this mean we'll be seeing him on TV on the TCM channel? Because I'd watch that.
