Cillian on set in Wales
Cillian & Keira as the not-so-happy family

See more from The Edge of Love on location
For the past few days, sites like LiveJournal's Oh No They Didn't and celeb-spotlight JustJared have been posting pics from the set of The Best Time of Our Lives. Staffer Madra Rua and Tara just tracked down the first pictures of Cillian! Some are from JustJared (which has more shots of Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller frolicking on the beach), as well as more on set and Cillian chatting with costars Sienna and Matthew Rhys during a break. See them all in our gallery.
New name for Best Time—and more distribution
Meanwhile, staffer Pierspaul found out that The Best Time of Our Lives has just been renamed: according to Variety, it's now The Edge of Love. More exciting news is that Lionsgate has already picked up the U.K. and Australian distribution rights:
The Edge of Love is just the sort of project that is a perfect fit for our U.K. and Australian operations: a classic story of broken promises, passion and betrayal, featuring some of the hottest young talent worldwide today," commented Lionsgate U.K. chief exec Zygi Kamasa.
Variety also notes that the producers are already talking about pre-sales at Cannes, which hopefully should yield some good results for audiences in other parts of the world.
A little more Sunshine in L.A.
Madra Rua also found this exciting news at indieWIRE: Sunshine has been selected for the prestigious final spot at the Los Angeles Film Festival. If you're one of the lucky folks in southern California on July 1st, you might get a chance to see it before the rest of North America. See the LA Film Fest website for more information.
Successful juggling in Detectives
In the most positive review that's come out so far, Ryan Stewart reviews Watching the Detectives for Cinematical. Right off the bat, he calls attention to Detectives' film noir homage:
If the film were made sixty years ago, the male lead would first be seen in a downmarket private investigator's store front, leaning back in a chair with his feet up on a desk, as the dangeous female comes waltzing into his life. Today, it's a downmarket indie video store, where Neil (Cillian Murphy) lounges with his fellow employees, savoring their status as increasingly rare birds in a neighborhood being invaded by behemoth video store giants.
Stewart highlights many of the antics in the film, particularly noting Lucy Liu's femme fatale role but nothing that
For his part, Neil is a classic noir stooge who understands intellectually that he's being taken for a ride by this woman but can't help himself.
He concludes with praise for both actors:
Murphy and Liu are never anything less than watchable, and they bring enough energy and concentration to their roles to keep the whole juggling act going longer than most other actors would, I imagine—fans of them and fans of noir should get a kick out of this film.
"Cillian Me Softly"?
Despite being laden with an unfortunate title, Movie Idols has a feature story on Cillian in their April issue. ClaireFisher kindly scanned the article for us; it's posted in our gallery and you can read it here.
Huge thanks to Tara for the on-set photos and to ClaireFisher for the magazine scans!
