There will be Sunshine in the U.S. on July 20th!

I don't know about Canada, but most of the United States will be getting a big dose of Sunshine much earlier than September. [ETA: SunshineDNA.com later confirmed that it's Canada too.] The reputable blog /Film just got the date from Fox Searchlight: 20 July! Peter Sciretta writes about the upcoming wide release:

None of this platform art-house expansion stuff. Seems like the studio has faith in the film. The film will now go head to head with New Line’s Hairspray and the Adam Sandler/Kevin James gay marriage comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. And it seems to me that all three of those films are vying for different audiences, so Sunshine might actually have a chance.

Finally, a Sunshine release announcement that's not about yet another a delay!

Being a Brit, I've already seen this and it's quite firmly in my top films of this year. I can see what the middle-of-the-road reviews mean, but I must say I disagree with them entirely. I was going to try and put a proper review together but it had gone out of the cinema before I could get chance to see it again, and I don't feel I could do it justice on the one 6-week-ago viewing I had. No matter what your opinion of the film as a whole, though, if you're on this site it's worth seeing for Cillian's performance alone, which is tight, subtle and totally convincing. Hey, it converted me to a fangirl so he must have been doing something right!

Of God, I'm so excited! I hope this will bring Cillian the recognition he deserves in the states and without the creepy thing.

i went to see it, and left the theatre wondering if i wouldn't stand the movie in its entirity without cillian on silverscreen...
but about the movie i think the message it's clear... and i consider it's a good one ... is not only about the thriller, the drama on board the icarus II, i perceived something more... our convivence with ourselves, to the interior human being, facing some apocaliptic situation... and then you ask yourself now, what are you doing to your enviroment to make our planet a better place to live, meanwhile you are here...

well this is only my personal opinion about the movie itself... i obviosly enjoyed capa's scenes hehehehe
that's for sure... i love his hair, and he looks gorgeus in this underwear a-shirt, mhhh sweaty... ahhhhhhh thinking twice i should watched it more than once...

i love cill!!
:)

Well, havin seen it already for like... three times. I can tell something... it's not made for everyone to appreciate it, many people left the cinema overwhelmed and it seemed like they didn't know how to feel about the end. The movie was pretty great durin its the first two thirds. The end is not quite dissapointin but you may feel like you could have written it better. Overall, I think it's still definitely worth watchin in the BIG SCREEN

I'm too much of a Danny Boyle fan and a Cillian Murphy fan (obviously!) not to be excited about seeing "Sunshine" on the big screen after almost two years of reading about it.

But I have also read many reviews and viewer responses and have adjusted my previously super-high expectations accordingly. I'm in it primarily for the visuals, of both the human and special effects variety, and the acting, but I'm ready for the plot to potentially get muddled.

Yeah, I guess there's a market for "grit teeth in irritation/blink in confusion/(and, depending on one's level of intoxication) burst into tears." I've seen "Sunshine": it ain't-- if you'll pardon the pun-- all that hot. Until Alex Garland can learn to focus for the length of a film script, he ought to be confined to writing for TV. And Danny Boyle needs to quit with the snip-snip editing. I was hoping Fox USA would hold out for re-shoots (like they did with "28 Days Later"); I guess it's too much of a mess re-assembling cast and crew on a behemoth like "Sunshine." Too bad.
