CillianSite Top 5 + no Scarecrow but more Detectives + Cillian in French film mags

Put Cillian on your casting couch

Admit it—haven't you ever imagined Cillian on the casting couch? The CillianSite wants to hear what you think are the Top 5 Film Roles That Coulda/Shoulda Gone to Cillian Murphy.

Cillian Murphy
Those eyes lurking behind Scarecrow's mask

These can be anything, from replacing an actor in a classic film to a flop that Cillian could have saved. You're the casting director, you make the call! Just count down your favourites from #5 to #1, and e-mail your list to by 15 May.

Batman eludes Scarecrow while Cillian enjoys the lighter side

Not too long ago, rumours were circulating (based on this interview with IESB.net on 28 February 2007) that Scarecrow might be back, even briefly, in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film. Today, those rumours were quashed, as staffer Madra Rua and ClaireFisher learned from MTV.com:

Cillian Murphy won't be reprising his role as Scarecrow in the next Batman movie ("I can't count on that at the moment, I'm afraid," he reported).

But Cillian did talk (a little defensively?) about his impression of Neil, his character in Watching the Detectives...

"I wouldn't call him a geek," he said of his character in the upcoming Lucy Liu-starring comedy Watching the Detectives. "Let's just say, he's got quite special interests."

...and then the attraction of doing this very different role:

"I've done a lot of heavy films, which I'm very proud of, but they do take a lot from you. It was nice to come home and have a bit of energy at the end of the day."

I personally can't wait to see this light side of Cillian!

Scans from the French press

We've just received some very special scans from Carine, a devoted Cillian fan in France. She sent us two scans from French film magazines CinéLive and Studio—in the latter, Cillian is featured alongside other Irish greats like Peter O'Toole and Daniel Day Lewis.

Thanks to ClaireFisher for the news tip and Carine for the magazine scans!

Scarecrow is a wonderful villain, so I too hope we'll see more of him in the future. I can't imagine they'd let that character slip away.

And I'm with you guys on the DDL love. My Beautiful Laundrette is one of my favourite films. I also adore Peter O'Toole -- nothing beats the twinkle in his eye.

You must be miserable, Kerry -- I do hope your recovery's going well.

Daniel Day Lewis is one of my favorite actors as well. I totally agree with Celticgrl, Cillian is in great company! I feel a little sad about the Scarecrow not being in the next Batman film, but I still hope he'll be in the third one ;)
