Despite shooting for The Best Time of Our Lives scheduled to begin in just three days, Lindsay Lohan has pulled out of the project. Leslie Sloan Zelnick, Lindsay's representative, confirmed that contract problems are to blame for her pulling the plug at such a late date. The somewhat cryptic explanation offered to Life & Style Weekly is that:

"She didn't back out and they didn't pull the deal. But there were changes that weren't to her liking, and that was that."

I wonder if the changes might be those Matthew Rhys referred to in last month's interview with icWales.co.uk. There he suggested that the lesbian relationship that he had mentioned and that Lohan has since been talking up might be made more ambiguous, and might not even appear in the final script.

What this latest development will do to Lohan's reputation is uncertain. As Josh Taylor of Cinema Blend writes:

She's already taken flack for causing problems on other sets, and backing out of a movie at the last possible moment only adds to her rather tarnished, rehabbed legend.

But the question for Cillian fans is whether the show will go on without one of its leading ladies. My pick to play the London-Irish beauty? Elaine Cassidy, Cillian's co-star from Disco Pigs, who I think could bring an authentic charm and passion to the role of Caitlin MacNamara Thomas.

Gallery additions from events new and old

Looks like Mexico loves Sunshine! I've just posted four lovely new scans from the Mexican press featuring Cillian's latest role. ¡Gracias a Kiwi por su contribución!

Pierspaul has also been working hard to bring us even more pictures from the 2006 Cannes photocall and red carpet event.

And last but not least, a few radio "appearances": with BBC Radio 1's Edith Bowman, the A-List's Nick Snaith, and BBC 6 Music DJ Nemone after their very engaging 4 April interview. Besides discussing his roles and seeming bewilderment about his online fandom, Cillian revealed a few of his current favourite musicians, including Gruff Rhys and The Hours. Check out Cillian's Playlist to see more.

Thanks, Kiwi, for all the news from Mexico and Mystic Bliss's Yazpistachio19 for the photo with Nemone!

Oooh, Claudia, I agree -- Emily Blunt would be good, too!

It is really irresponsible, IMO, to drop out like this. Cinematical just did a story about how this is a bit of a pattern for Lindsay: http://www.cinematical.com/2007/04/19/la-lohan-has-dropped-out-of-the- dylan-thomas-movie-source-says/

But I also read an article today (and can't put my hands on it now) about how they are scrambling to find somebody to fill in at the last minute so shooting can continue. I sure hope they can find someone!

Kery I couldn't have said it better... this totally made my day too. I think Elaine would be great, though I would love to see Emily Blunt as Caitlin... But, first things first, is the movie gonna be filmed anyway? As happy as I am about Lindsay droppin out, I think that was just inconsiderate since the shootin was due to start in a couple of days.
