Barley breaks Irish box office record

A Cillian movie has bested a Cillian movie: with a gross of €2.7 million, The Wind That Shakes The Barley now holds the all-time Irish box office record for the highest grossing Irish-made independent film, topping Intermission's €2.5 million. (Source: The Irish Film Board via RTE). In fact, it's the #4 film of the year in Ireland so far, even beating out Mission Impossible III. (Source: Unison.ie.) And as I reported previously, it's director Ken Loach's biggest hit ever. Since its debut at Cannes, this rebellious underdog of a movie just keeps on surprising everyone. Can't wait to see it... But. Will. Have. To.
