NJ's excitement + breath spray hilarity

New Jersey's Courier News has a nice story on the excitement over the Watching the Detectives shoot in Scotch Plains. Pamela Sroka reported:
About 50 teenagers, adults and children crowded around the set and initiated a flashbulb frenzy with cameras and cell phones in hopes of snapping a shot of the two actors. ...Palmer Video on Westfield Avenue, which was closed for business Friday, was transformed into another video store, "Media Giant," for the movie.
The next two sentences tell a funny tale...
Fans were fooled early on as crews allowed spectators to take pictures just a feet away from whom they thought were the real [Lucy] Liu and Murphy. A short while later, the crowd learned those were stand-ins for the scene's test shots. The real pair emerged from their dressing room trailers at about 5 p.m. and plopped down on a wooden bench in the rear of Palmer Video. ...The actors peered into large, black binoculars during the brief outdoor scene. Then, they were expected to make their way inside the video store for evening scenes.
"We wanted to see if we could get a glimpse of Cillian," said a star-struck Lisa Berlangero, 17, who traveled from Long Island to view the filming. Her traveling buddy, Blair Apgar, also 17 and from Long Island, said she doesn't think Murphy gets enough credit for his work. "He's very modest about his movies, but he's really a great actor," she said. "We wanted to tell all our friends we went to New Jersey to see Cillian."
Right now, some of our more breathless Cillian fangirls might be reading something untoward into all the photos of Cillian & Lucy's acting, but I discovered out that they're not alone. UK tabloid The Mirror seems quite happy to provide their own narrative for what's happening in the recent photos of Lucy spraying Cillian's mouth with a shot of something, probably breath freshener (this may or may not have been a scene from the film).
The Mirror somehow expects us to swallow all of this:
Cillian Murphy was kissed-off when he prepared for a snogging scene with stunner Lucy Liu—only to have breath spray shoved in his mouth. The Cork-born actor, 30, puckered up with the 37-year-old Charlie's Angels star for a scene in their latest movie Watching the Detectives in New York. But just as he prepared for the big moment, Lucy took time out to squirt the mint spray. An onlooker said: "Cillian was excited about getting to lock lips with such a stunning woman. But she killed the moment by making him freshen his mouth first. A few seconds later they got stuck in and kissed for the cameras."
Yeah, right... and Cillian is also desperate to show Lucy how to drink "like an Irishman," and he's just acquired a bridge in Brooklyn that he'll sell ya real cheap. Wow, it's truly fascinating to see what the media machine is already cooking up for this romantic comedy, even though it's an indie with non-tabloid stars.
