TMZ.com just broke the news that director Alejandro Agresti's next film will be The Scent of Books, and that Cillian is in talks to play the younger incarnation of one of three 60-ish writers on whom the story centers.
Woody Allen and Christopher Plummer are in negotiations for two of the three main roles. TMZ reports that Italian-American actor Jason Biggs may also be cast as a younger version of one of the writers, and I would imagine that would be the young Woody Allen part. Seems like Cillian might be slated for the role of a younger Christopher Plummer, the veteran Canadian actor who has been in well over a hundred movies—most famously The Sound of Music and most recently Inside Man, The New World, and Syriana—and who is father of actor Amanda Plummer.
The Lake House, starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, is director/novelist Agresti's latest film. If Woody Allen takes the role in The Scent of Books, interest in the film will be high, since Allen rarely stars in movies he's not also directing.
