As November 30 nears, fans from across America are lining up to purchase their tickets to see Cillian's United States debut of Misterman, Enda Walsh's smash one-man play that sold out recently in Ireland at the Galway Arts Festival. Those lucky enough to score tickets for the show at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York are sure to be amazed by Cillian's performance. Gothamist.com has Misterman listed as one of their 10 Theatrical Productions You Won't Want To Miss This Season. If you'd like to read more about Cillian's pending debut, click here or here.

Scarecrow a judge? + Retreat interviews + more Red Lights

Dr. Jonathan Crane

While we realize that things have seemed quiet on the surface, behind the scenes we've been hard at work archiving Reviews, Feature Stories, photos and more. Make sure to Like our Facebook page to get up to the minute updates on Cillian.

Is Scarecrow back?

Despite Cillian's adorable refusal to talk about the upcoming Batman movie in a radio interview with the Wittertainment Two, his IMDB bio page was recently updated giving us a hint that perhaps he may be reprising his role in the latest installment. In addition, IMDB has Cillian listed as a cast member for The Dark Knight Rises giving us a glimmer of hope that Cillian may indeed play our favorite Dr. Crane again. We also found some internet rumors on Hypable.com which claim that Dr. Crane/Scarecrow will be a judge in a Bane-ruled Gotham City. While we hope the rumors hold true, only time will tell since Cillian won't!

Retreat has limited opening in U.S.

A lucky few U.S. fans had the opportunity to see Retreat this past October as it opened in limited theatres across the U.S. Robert Beames interviewed the cast for WhatCulture.com where Cillian divulged that he was drawn to the script because of its sophisticated adult drama and interaction between his character and the character played by Thandie Newton. He also had praise for director Carl Tibbets, calling his first film a claustrophobic, character-driven film.

Cillian also had Q&A interviews with HeyUGuys.Co.UK! and The A.V. Club. You can read his descriptions of the movie, set, filming and what it was like to work with his director and fellow actors.

Red Lights plot thickens

Dread Central.com reports their delight in seeing their (and our) favorite actor looking "absolutely crazed" in the upcoming film, Red Lights. A bit more plot information and a gorgeous photo can be found on their site here.

If The Dark Knight Rises, will The Scarecrow return?

Cillian may be reprising his role as Dr. Jonathan Crane, a.k.a. The Scarecrow, in The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's next Batman movie. This item from What Culture! hints big that the rumor is true, and MovieWeb.com hints even harder that Cillian was spotted on the DKR set in a scene described on WorstPreviews.com. As Cillian is in Christopher Nolan's stable of favorite actors (along with Dark Knight co-star Thomas Hardy—the man has great taste), we're hoping for a little more Crane action!

Thanks for the info, Amber!

What was your first Cillian experience?

Earlier this month we asked our Facebook fans to tell us about the first time they discovered Cillian. The response has been fantastic! We love hearing Cilly's fans' stories and we'd love to hear yours too! Head over to our Facebook page (or leave a comment below!) and tell us in which short, play, or film you first discovered Cillian. When?

Suzanne has been kind to share her story here. Hopefully it will inspire you to share yours!

The first time I really noticed Cillian was when I saw him in Inception. But that was not the first time I'd seem him. The first time was Red Eye, back when I thought he was "Sillian" Murphy. I saw it on TV, and I didn't like him at all! I thought he was strange-looking, mostly because of those big, high cheek bones, I think. Plus, he was such a mean, creepy character. Then last July, I went to see Inception. In the movie when they opened the door to the room where he first appeared with his dying dad and he turned around, I thought: "There's that guy! Who is he?" I had gone from disliking him to being interested and intrigued. I made sure I knew his name, then when I went on my computer I started a search. It eventually led my to The CillianSite (It was still "sillian site" to me; I'm Irish, you'd think I'd know better.) Between your site and IMDb.com, I found out just about everything I wanted to know and more. And I loved your picture galleries. Before I knew it, I was hooked on Cillian Murphy (make that "Killian")! Now I own most of his movies. How could I ever not like this guy?

Just In Time for film's release: a lawsuit

Raymond Leon in In Time
See more In Time photos

Weeks before In Time, the futuristic thriller starring Cillian, Justin Timberlake, and Amanda Seyfried comes to your local multiplex, a lawsuit has been filed to halt the release. The suit was filed by Harlan Ellison, who wrote a science fiction story called "Repent, Harlequin! Said The Ticktockman" in 1965. (You can read about the short story here.) Ellison is asking for the movie to be pulled from its release date on October 28 and for all copies of it to be destroyed. This would not be great news for Cillian fans, though such suits usually end in settlements rather than heaps of burning celluloid. You can read more about the lawsuit here. Keep checking The CillianSite for the latest information!

Wayfaring Strangers canceled

Cillian Murphy

To the great dismay of the film's writer and director, the production of Wayfaring Strangers, a World War II film set in German-occupied France, has been canceled at the last minute due to issues with the film's bank funding. Le Bien Public has reported direct from France, where the film was to begin filming shortly, that the bank may have possibly felt that one of the film's backers was not as financially solid as they would have liked. Therefore, the funding by the bank was halted in the final moments. Despite the disappointment, the film's producers hope to get filming up and going again by next summer. Cillian fans everywhere can keep their fingers crossed! You can view the French news report here.

Cillian in a music video + Retreat dates

Cillian's music video

Back in March, Cillian named Swedish band I Break Horses as one of his new favorites when he did a brief intro for their song "Winter Beats" on Strangeways Radio. He's also featured in the "Winter Beats" video! The black and white clip features arty, beautiful scenes: cloud formations, flowers blooming in fast motion, flaming animal skulls, and Cillian's face. (Fans of the Misterman beard will not be disappointed, nor will those who like sweetly depressing shoegazer-style synth pop; the song shows Cillian's excellent taste in music.)

Misterman a major hit!

Misterman
See more photos from Misterman

For a dark play about a man with disturbing thoughts, the reviews for Enda Walsh's Misterman have been nothing short of glowing. The Galway Advertiser said, "Cillian Murphy turns in an electrifying, bravura performance" as Thomas Magill, a man who manipulates tape recorded voices. (Trivia tidbit: One of the voices belongs to Eileen Walsh, Cillian's co-star in Disco Pigs, the Enda Walsh play that launched Cillian's career.)

The Irish Times praised Cillian's "genuinely virtuoso performance" and described the play as being "fiendishly enjoyable to watch." Irish Theater Magazine said, "Murphy hits the mark every time." From The Guardian: "Murphy is riveting." And Galway City Tribune wrote, "To describe Cillian Murphy as amazing . . . barely begins to do justice to the actor's performance."

We've heard from the critics about this sold-out smash — now we want to hear from you! Any Cillian fans out there who were lucky enough to score tickets, send your review to !

First review of Misterman

Misterman Onstage
See Misterman's On Stage Gallery

The Irish Times has given us our first real look at Misterman, currently running now through July 24th in Galway, Ireland. In this adaptation of Enda Walsh's 1999 Misterman, Cillian plays the "isolated and vengeful" Thomas Magill, an incredibly complex character positioned somewhere between raving madman and God.

Cillian's sold-out performance is being hailed as "brilliant" and "virtuoso", though we hardly expected less! Read the entire review here or here, and for those of you fortunate enough to attend, please send us your own review!

Misterman Mania

Cillian Murphy

As the start of the Galway Arts Festival draws closer (July 7!), Cillian has been doing a ton of publicity in support of Misterman, the one-man play written by Enda Walsh that's the big draw of the festival. Landmark Productions, which is producing Misterman, sent The CillianSite this link to interviews with Cillian and Enda from four European papers. There's also a podcast of Cilly and Enda on a show called Miriam Meets, which you can download here. The articles and podcast tell about the play, which Cillian describes as "The Everest of acting," and show the deep, creatively stimulating friendship between Cillian and Enda (as well as Cillian's legendary modesty). There's more coming daily, so check back for new Misterman updates! And if anyone is going, give The CillianSite a shout and write a review for us!
