Druid reprised
This past week Dublin residents were treated with a Druid 35th Birthday performance entitled From Galway to Broadway and Back Again in which Cillian reprised his acclaimed role of Christy in a selection from Playboy of the Western World. As part of one of Druid's most memorable productions, Cillian's performance was among several by many of Ireland's leading actors. Proceeds from this special evening will go towards Druid's Education Outreach initiative (The Silver Tassie) and its ongoing New Writing program.
Total Film article with striking photos
Matt Mueller of Total Film magazine has written an article about Cillian featuring some gorgeous new photographs taken by Matt Holyoak. Appearing "genuinely contrite," Cillian apologized for his inability to share too many details about his upcoming role in Inception. We learn that Cillian was asked by Chris Nolan to read the script of Inception and tell him which role he felt best suited for. Lucky for us, they both agreed and Cillian was hired for the part. True to Cillian's longing to always seek out new roles and new characters, the film promises to be give us Cillian in a part that we've never seen him play before. If you're eager to see the photos and read the text, you can see them here, in our Feature Stories section.
Today marks our favorite Irish actor's 34th birthday. We wish him many successful movie releases and some plum leading roles for the coming year, starting with July's release of Inception. Happy Birthday Cillian!
New individual Inception poster of Cillian released
24 May 2010 at 09:08 PM | by Nancy, with Angelica and Nairin78
Seven new individual posters for Inception have surfaced today on the internet, including one for Cillian that says "The Mark." This could be really interesting! It gives us hope that Cillian is actually a main player in the movie. You can see all of them in our Inception Promo Gallery.
A sleek new Inception poster was recently released featuring an upside down, yet still quite handsome Cillian, alongside his Inception co-stars. You can see Cillian's first Inception movie poster and others in our Inception Promo Gallery.
As we get closer to the release date of Cillian's new psychological thriller, the official Inception website has launched. After watching the new trailer, a menu surfaces where you can click on options to see videos, view gallery stills, movie posters, and put yourself into the world of Inception by playing the game Mind Crime. Don't forget to click on "About the Film" which features an amazing photo of Cillian, and a synopsis of the movie's twists and turns.
In addition to seeing the new trailer on the official website, you can also catch it on several different internet sites (including right here, just below) and in the online game Mind Crime. This third trailer finally gives us a glimpse of Cillian in the movie, as well as a more in depth look into the exciting plot of the movie. You can play Mind Crime here.

For the first time, Cillian has broken his no-chat-show/no-cult-of-celebrity-personality rule: he appeared on RTE's The Late, Late Show to promote Perrier's Bounty. His co-star Brendan Gleeson was there to "mind" him, but it didn't really seem necessary—he seemed quite at ease.
As a side note, The CillianSite is still understaffed, and those of us still here are a bit slammed in our personal lives. Sorry that we've fallen behind on the news. As always, we're looking for Cillian fans who are strong writers and strong coders interested in getting involved in our little labor of love, so if that's you, please get in touch.

Many Cillian fans, especially those who loved Breakfast on Pluto, have been eagerly awaiting the first full reveal of Cillian in drag for his upcoming split personality role in Peacock. Finally, today, the first photo hit the Internet at ShockTillYouDrop.com, and as an added bonus, he's arm in arm with the also lovely and doe-eyed Susan Sarandon.

As noted earlier, we won't get to see Cillian's new thriller Peacock in theaters, but according to DVD Times.com, it looks like the DVD will be packed with lots of extras, including a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, Cillian rehearsal footage, and a downloadable script.
The bad news is that, like Watching the Detectives, Cillian's psychological thriller Peacock will be heading straight to DVD. The good news? We won't have to wait too long to see Cillian in the dual starring role of a lonely bank clerk and his femme alter ego. VideoETA lists Peacock as coming out in the U.S.A. on 20 April 2010, and Maple Pictures shows the same release date for Canada.
We're happy that the film will be available, but terribly disappointed that this intriguing movie with its stellar cast is probably headed for obscurity. Luckily, Cillian will be appearing in one of the most anticipated films of 2010: Christopher Nolan's Inception.
Hippie and Perrier's out in the U.K./Ireland—and the U.S.?
As we blogged last summer, Cillian's troubled biopic, Hippie Hippie Shake, was abandoned by its director and screenwriter, and has been repeatedly delayed. At last report, it was supposed to come out in the U.K. and Ireland this month, but IMDb now shows the release date there as 21 May. No word on distribution in other countries.

We have what may be the first official movie poster for Perrier's Bounty.
This image is from the Netherlands site Film1.ne, which indicates a potential general Northern European release. Still no word on a release date, though.
Finally, we have a sign that Peacock, in which Cillian is the central character (or characters?) will be coming out soon! The official website has been launched: www.peacockthemovie.com. Still no release dates or countries of release for this American indie film, but now you can see many great production stills, which we've archived in our Gallery. Check out shots of co-stars Ellen Page, Susan Sarandon, Bill Pullman, and Josh Lucas.
The striking images and the intimate guitar soundtrack make Peacock look very promising. Let's hope this film gets a wide enough release to lift Cillian back up into the spotlight, with a variety of new juicy lead roles.
Perrier's possible release dates + charity angel concept

Perrier's Bounty out soon in Ireland? In the U.S.A.?
Research isn't turning up much that's really verifiable yet, but according to Irish cinema chain Swan's Twitpic caption for this photo of Cillian and Brendan Gleeson supposedly doing publicity for Perrier's Bounty, the film is coming out on 26 March in Ireland. Or in early April, according to Movies.ie. South Africans can look forward to Perrier's on 16 April, thanks to Videovision Entertainment. And Box Office Mojo, but no one else, says that American indie distributor IFC is releasing it on 14 May. Hopefully, more will become clearer soon!
Cillian's angel of peace
More on the angel that Cillian helped create for charity, as blogged on 2 January. The Dublin artists' collective IHeartArt describe how they realized Cillian's vision for him:
He wanted a denim blue angel with John Lennon's song "Give Peace a Chance" written all over the whole angel. Since a completely blue angel would have been too similar to another of our angels we came up with a patchwork of different blues, adding stitching and some pockets.
Inception's early blockbuster marketing moving ahead
Two posters for Inception have been revealed; we've added them to a new Inception promo gallery. And a second official trailer, this time including a few fleeting glimpses of our man, has been released:

The Calgary Herald has a fun bit of news about Cillian's latest Inception production activities: director Christopher Nolan asked many of the stars to take ski lessons as preparation for the final scenes of the shoot in Canada. Of Cillian's training, they reported,
Irish actor Cillian Murphy ... had never been on skis before. He was enthusiastic about the sport, but needed enticement to keep at it, often requesting beer breaks from [ski coach] Matt) Mosteller.
As a side note, I want to thank the site's news correspondents for being on top of this story, and to other friends for emailing The CillianSite Collective about a few other stories we haven't had a chance to cover yet. Thanks to everyone out there for sticking with us through this site's ebbs and flows and real life challenges. As always, we'll keep working as much as we can and would love to hear from folks interested in joining in on the fun.

CollegeHumor.com just ran a funny spoof of RateMy Professors.com, rating fictional instructors such as Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones, and Cillian's Batman Begins character, Dr. Jonathan Crane, was included. I suspect that many of us would risk the fear toxin to be schooled by Dr. Crane.

A Collective once more
Great news for
The CillianSite: Angelica, formerly known by the pseudonym Lillian, has joined The CillianSite Collective. She has been hard at work around here for the past few months, digging her fingers into all aspects of this big, fat Cillian-lovin' web site. Thank you, Angelica!
Cillian to play a musician backing Neeson?
It's not clear if there's anything to this story, but IrishCentral.com says that Cillian is "in talks" to play a musician in Liam Neeson's new movie, The Virgin of Las Vegas. Supposedly Colin Farrell and Gabriel Byrne are also being wooed to play members of Neeson's singer character's backing band.
No word yet of international distribution for Perrier's Bounty, but a few more early reviews have appeared, and they're more positive than the last bunch. We've added three more to our Reviews archive.
Moving Pictures, which explains that "Perrier's has something entirely more romantic and gentle of heart in mind" than the oft-compared In Bruges, says of our idol:
Cillian Murphy has eyes like shards of arctic ice. Even Sinatra and Newman would marvel. Yet his baby blues are never more expressive, never more alive, than when they are bloodied and bruised and looking at (co-star Jodie) Whitaker.
Film blog The Film Stage also makes the In Bruges comparison, but calls Perrier's "a little more whacky (sic)", a ... "purely adrenaline-filled action trip". They rave:
The CillianSite has a new contributing staff member: Amanda, of the late, great uCillian fan site. As many of you doubtlessly know, Amanda is an expert Cillian Murphy photo and news researcher, so we're very excited.
Short film starring Cillian and Feist is back online

It looks like shooting Inception is putting Cillian in a good mood. We've added this shot and others of him with co-star Ellen Page to our Inception on location gallery, along with a few photos of Cillian in character as Fischer. We've also swapped out a few watermarked images from our Toronto International Film Festival 2009 gallery, replacing them with better versions, and added some cute oldies-but-goodies of Cillian on stage in a 2003 production of The Seagull.
