Top 5 TV Shows Cillian Murphy Should Guest Star On

The The CillianSite Top 5's seventh topic brings Cillian back to the small screen, if only in our fantasies! The dream guest star roles range from demons to doctors, anti-heroes to animated. The popularity of Mad Men and The Simpsons is apparent, as these are the only two repeat titles in the imaginative choices of the fans who participated. This topic's lists obviously show that Cillian's fans have faith in his diverse acting talents. After reading these suggestions, you may never be able to watch television without yearning for your favorite big-screen star to add to the entertainment!

  • #5. Grey's Anatomy

Not my favorite medical drama (yes, I'm calling it a drama and not a soap opera, OK?), but it still has my attention. I used to like it better at the beginning, when it was a little less soapy and more fun. It would be nice to see it going back to funny and sexy without being corny. I would love to see Cillian playing a doctor for a couple of episodes; don't you think it would be kind cool if he inspired a new nickname? Because I think he could—every time I fantasize about Cillian as a doctor, I get to call him "McSexy".

  • #4. Scrubs

Whenever I see the episode when Colin Farrell guest starred, I keep thinking again and again, "Damn, that should be Cillian! Damn, that should be Cillian! Damn, that should be Cillian!" Pretty shallow reason, besides my love for this show, but it's my reason.

  • #3. Dexter

Ever taken sides with the psycho? Yeah, me too. Twice: when Cillian's played a bad guy, and when I saw Dexter. The best accomplishment of this show is that it presents this scary and apparently emotionless character, and yet makes him likeable at the same time. I'm all for anti-heroes, as you may see. I would kill many of his victims too, if I were him. I'm crossing my fingers for Cillian to be a guest-star in this one, but I hope he will never be the victim. His character should have more depth; maybe he should be a Dark Avenger too.

  • #2. The Simpsons

A tell-tale sign that an actor, actress, or musician has really hit it big is when they get a guest-starring role on The Simpsons. This show is legendary and funny as hell. I could go on forever, but you get my point right? Plus, Cillian loves the show, as well, but then again, is there anyone who doesn't love The Simpsons? (Well, actually, my dad doesn't, but he's got no sense of Homer—I mean humor.)

  • #1. House M.D.

Do I need another reason, besides the fact that this is my favorite show? I didn't think so, but here it is, anyway: this show is genius! It has it all: clever writing, a fantastic lead star, and witty dialogue. God, it would be so great to see Cillian as a guest star, even better if he played a rather relevant character, and not just a "patient of the week." I can't think of anyone better than Cillian to give the ever excellent Hugh Laurie a run for his money.

  • #5. Doctor Who

I've really wanted to see Cillian guest star on this show ever since seeing him and Christopher Eccleston (AKA The Ninth Doctor) in 28 Days Later... . For some reason, I really think Cillian and David Tennant would have some really cute, funny chemistry together.

  • #4. Mad Men

I love how well shot and acted this show is. The fashions are gorgeous and the storylines are so juicy. I want to see Cillian on this show, preferably as a 1960s British advertising agent (who's not a cross-dresser, by the way!) who gets into some kind of competition with the main characters.

  • #3. Battlestar Galactica

It's such a well done series for it being on the Sci-Fi Channel, and very well acted, with such compelling characters. I'd have loved to see Cillian as perhaps a conflicted Cylon who questions whether humans are as bad as the other Cylons say, and have a philosophical discussion about what measure is humane with the other characters, like some kind of hardened military type of human.

  • #2. Robot Chicken

I absolutely love this brilliantly written pop culture spoof by the ever hilarious Seth Green. I just love the idea of Cillian voicing a spoof of one of his movie characters, if the Robot Chicken team should ever decide to spoof Batman (and Scarecrow), Red Eye, 28 Days Later, or just about anything Cillian's been in. Just think, Cillian working with Seth Green...

  • #1. Heroes

Just picture this: one night, a woman is being mugged and about to get assaulted by a gang of men. Out from the shadows steps a shadowy figure, and he tells the men to let the woman go. They laugh and get ready to beat the pulp out of him, but he single-handedly gets rid of them. He then disappears into the shadows. He's revealed to be Cillian as a shadowed, evolved human vigilante.

Now, the reason why I think Cillian could bring something new and cool to Heroes with this character is that he's very good with anti-hero roles (which I think Heroes needs more of). He could be an anti-hero figure who has heroic intentions but no moral or emotional objections to killing, which could bring a rather juicy conflict between him and the more emotionally sensitive Peter Petrelli or the more pure heroism philosophy of Hiro Nakamura. I also love the idea of this character having some kind of enmity/rivalry with Sylar, and he could maybe even spout out some philosophical psychobabble while he's at it. Cillian would work so well in a show like this.

  • #5. Charmed

Unfortunately, this show is currently on rerun, but I loved watching it. It had a little bit of everything: horror, romance, drama, and comedy. It also had a really good-looking cast, and Cillian would be perfect on-screen with them. Plus, being the excellent actor that he is, he would add depth to his guest star role, whether it be a demon, detective, ghost, warlock, or Whitelighter. I personally would have loved to see him as a demon. It wouldn't matter if he were a villainous demon or a benevolent demon; either way, he would be quite a sexy one!

  • #4. The Office (USA)

It's one of my favorite comedy shows. It's random, awkward, and hilarious. It's definitely in dire need of someone to play the "hot new guy" at the office, and who else would be better than Cillian? Some of the best comedians are on this show, and working with them would definitely help Cillian brush up on his comedic side.

  • #3. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

This show can be gritty, disturbing, and heartbreaking, but I can always count on it to be intriguing. Due to the outstanding direction and stellar cast, it's one of the best crime dramas on television. Adding Cillian to the cast as a guest star would make it even more amazing. He has the versatility to act in any role for this show: a serial sex offender, a troubled victim, a rookie detective, a hotshot defense attorney, anything.

  • #2. Pushing Daisies

I've only seen a couple of episodes of this new show, but I absolutely adore it already. All of the main actors give great performances, and I love the bright colors and whimsical, storybook feel to the show. Each episode always features a quirky killer, and I would love to see Cillian play this role. He would get to be the bad guy (which he is so good at!), and the catch would be that he has a crush on Lee Pace's character, Ned! Wouldn't that make things comedically complicated?

  • #1. Mad Men

I love everything about this show: the great direction, terrific cast, wonderful acting, engaging storyline, and beautiful cinematography. It's like watching a really well made full length movie. The cast consists of all-around great actors, and they also happen to be quite attractive. Every time I watch this show, I cannot help but imagine Cillian among this glamorous group of actors. He would fit right in with them, and not to mention, he would look quite dashing in the 1950s/1960s costumes! He would definitely have to play the part of the "new young advertising genius" at Sterling Cooper and give Don Draper some serious competition. He would also be the total opposite of the arrogant Pete Campbell and capture the heart of Peggy Olson, giving Pete yet another thing to be resentful about.

  • #5. Monk

Good show. Good. Show. Monk is a great show and could help our dearest Cillian prove his flexibility as an actor. Whether his character is as kooky as Monk or as awkward as Lt. Disher, Cillian can and will prove his greatness.

  • #4. My Name is Earl

If there's anyone out there who already disagrees with me, don't, because My Name is Earl is funny. Picture it: Cillian Murphy as himself, or just some really hot Irish fellow, that Earl does something bad to, like get Cillian's character stuck in the States and arrested. Earl will go through some wacky situations to help Cillian's character out and to make his Karma all positive and such.

  • #3. Psych

Another show about crime and such, but oh so different from Monk. Psych would be funnier and more laid back experience for Cillian, but just as kooky. Whether Cillian is the guy running away from the cops (I love it when he runs, he has such awesome form) or the guy chasing the bad guy/girl, Cillian would be beastly. Psych!

  • #2. That 70's Show

Yes, I know That 70's Show ended, but still, if it was still on TV, smoking pot, Cillian would have to guest star on it. Once again, I will focus on his hotness. Cillian could be a teacher, a really, really hot one (yes, there are hot teachers. No, I have not met one), that both Donna and Jackie get crushes on after noticing his beautiful blue eyes. Or he could be a really dorky teacher that Donna and Jackie get crushes on, anyway. Either way, That 70's Show would show how natural Cillian is with comedy, get his name even more out there, and be a great "ha ha." Too bad it's over, eh?

  • #1. The Simpsons

Cillian Murphy has to guest star on The Simpsons. He just has to. Even though we won't actually get to see him, with the show being animated and all, that would be the coolest thing ever. Besides, we'll still get to hear his wonderful voice. It'd be sick-nasty to see Cillian quite a bit animated and such, and it would be a huge, ginormous honor. People will actually know who he is! It's quite unfortunate that nobody knows who he is, seeing as he's freaking awesome and incredibly hot. Cillian on The Simpsons? Can you say, "Best. Episode. Ever?"

  • #5. Secret Diary of a Call Girl

This show is naughty fun, if sometimes problematic. I'll admit that my only reason for casting Cillian as the client of a self-styled "high clahhss escort" is for the obligatory steamy premium cable (British TV) sex scene with my idol taking part. That's a good enough reason, right?

  • #4. Torchwood

This extremely silly, extremely fun, science fiction spinoff of Doctor Who would call upon a different side of Cillian than we've seen. The actors are called upon for comedic moments even as they must handle cheesy, somewhat low budget, life-and-death, end-of-the-planet melodrama. Oh, and they have to kiss both boys and girls. I would love to see Cillian pull all that off—and make Captain Jack Harkness jealous as he makes a play for Ianto Jones.

  • #3. Flight of the Conchords

This little gem of an HBO show about a hilariously clueless New Zealand rock duo could tap into Cillian's musical talents. Perhaps repressed, naive rockers Bret and Jemaine decide to bill themselves as Irish to get gigs, and they run into their Irish counterpart, a band led by Cillian. I'm sure the rock rival/dance off video would be very funny. I'd love to see Cillian do this kind of deadpan comedy and I'd love to see the Conchords do an Irish rock spoof video with Cillian.

  • #2. Lost

With such a large, stellar, multiracial cast and crazy, fascinating backstories and flash forwards that bring in new characters despite the main action taking place amongst castaways lost on a Pacific isle, there's got to be a juicy guest spot for Cillian. His level of stardom is actually right on target for a short stint on Lost... J.J. Abrams, are you listening? Cillian? No? Well, anyway, he could play a future undercover henchmen for mega-adversaries Benjamin Linus or Charles Widmore, maybe the traitorous son of one of them who's working for the other, maybe a love interest for widow Sun.

  • #1. Mad Men

Mad Men is simply the best show on television right now, with writing, direction and design worthy of Cillian. I would love to see him play Pete Campbell's brother Bud. As fans of the show know, my Cillian fantasies for the aforementioned role dimmed recently when the offscreen figure of favorite son Bud, previously only mentioned by Pete and his disapproving parents, was finally revealed in rather plain form, looking nothing like the actor who plays Pete, Vincent Kartheiser. But Cillian looks like Kartheiser's better looking brother. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if Cillian could have sauntered coolly into the universe of Mad Men as Bud, a boozy professional dressed snappily in a 1962 suit (one more intensely blue than Pete's signature blue suit), to make the snivelling Pete feel small?
