Synopsis:
From Le Moyne College's web site: "A bittersweet story of betrayal and unrequited love, The Seagull is the stuff of soap opera. This classic of Western drama is set on a beautiful country estate in pre-Revolutionary Russia, where love is in the air—along with jealousy and heartbreak. Chekhov's platform is a love quadrangle. Konstantin (Cillian Murphy) loves Nina, a young would-be actress, who is enchanted with Trigorin, a writer of the old school and the lover of Arkadina (Fiona Shaw), an actress who is also Konstantin's mother. As his characters struggle to find happiness, Chekhov takes a profound look at what we strive for, what we settle for, and what we sacrifice for those we love."
