Synopsis:

Neil (Cillian Murphy), the hip, young proprietor of Gumshoe Video in Anytown, USA, is obsessed with old movies, particularly the film noir detective flicks that give his shop its name. He spies his own femme fatale the minute that the cute and quirky Violet (Lucy Liu) walks into his store. From their first date, the impulsive Violet plays pranks on laidback Neil and gets him into trouble. As her elaborate tricks escalate, Neil is increasingly frustrated and freaked out, yet besotted with this beautiful thrill seeker who never reveals much about herself. This romantic comedy poses the question, can a slacker and an adventurist make a go of love?

Cast also includes Jason Sudeikis, Callie Thorne, Michael Panes, and Josh Pais.

Of Note:

This romantic comedy—Cillian's first—debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival on 1 May 2007, showed at several other festivals, and was supposed go into limited release in February 2008, but instead went straight to DVD in August.
