Synopsis:

Michael McCrea (Cillian Murphy) is not having a good day: he's flat broke and has just 24 hours to pay his debt to notorious gangster Darren Perrier (Brendan Gleeson). To make things worse, Michael's father Jim (Jim Broadbent) wants to have a serious chat, and Michael can't seem to convince his friend Brenda (Jodie Whittaker) that her cheating boyfriend is a wanker. In his quest to scrounge up the cash, the hapless Michael only manages to dig himself deeper into trouble. Vicious dogs, blackmailing thugs, and hyper-vigilant parking enforcement officers are among the ingredients that get added to this already-potent brew. By turns uproariously funny and shockingly violent, the movie is also undeniably touching.

This film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September 2009, and the film will be released in the U.K. and Ireland in March/April of 2010.
