Synopsis:
This energetic ensemble piece spins 11 story lines together to form a dizzying, quintessentially Irish tapestry of laughs and lament. John (Cillian Murphy) tests the devotion of his girlfriend Deirdre (Kelly Macdonald) by suggesting they take an "intermission" of sorts, only to be surprised when she not only assents, but leaps into a live-in relationship with an older—and married—man (Michael McElhatton). Meanwhile, egomaniacal detective Jerry Lynch (Colm Meaney) dogs street thug Lehiff (Colin Farrell) while angling for reality show stardom through a naively ambitious young television producer (Tomas O'Suilleabhain). As these characters make ill-advised attempts to break their usual patterns, unwanted and unanticipated effects ricochet through their shared, small community. While some look for love and others for money, the action crisscrosses through a bank heist, a bus crash, and the use and misuse of brown sauce in this rag-tag collection of connected tales.
Cast also includes Shirley Henderson, David Wilmot, Brian O'Byrne, Dierdre Kane, and Ger Ryan.
