Synopsis:
First a play, then a film, Disco Pigs tells the story of spiritual twins and the trauma of their eventual separation. Neighbors "Pig"/Darren (Cillian Murphy) and "Runt"/Sinead (Elaine Cassidy) share a birthday, a language of their own, and a penchant for playing anti-social pranks; over a lifetime, they have carved out a surreal outsider niche in which only the two of them fit, together. When Runt is sent away by her parents, who hope to break the hold Pig has on their daughter, her eyes are opened to new ways of living in the world. Pig, the less stable of the pair, is unable to function without Runt, whom he loves and needs more deeply than anyone imagines. Their eventual reunion brings Pig to a violent breaking point as their world collides with the harsh and unforgiving reality of growing apart.
Cast also includes Brian O'Byrne, Darren Healy, Tara Lynne O'Neill, and Michael Rawley.
Of Note:
Cillian originated the role of Pig in the original stage production of Enda Walsh's play.
