Cillian Murphy: A Biography

Cillian Murphy, a gifted young actor from Ireland, is noted for his chameleonic range and intense performances. Blessed with startlingly blue eyes, preternaturally high cheekbones, and full lips, Cillian can become bloodcurdling or bewitching. He uses this range to full effect, bringing to life malevolent characters like Jackson Rippner of Red Eye or Pig from the Irish indie Disco Pigs, and then just as convincingly portraying the pretty-boy-next-door Pieter in Girl With a Pearl Earring or the femme Kitten Braden of Breakfast on Pluto. Likewise, Cillian can stretch or contract his slight build and rich baritone, as in the contrasting roles for which he is perhaps best known to mainstream audiences: Jim, the athletic, optimistic hero of 28 Days Later... versus Dr. Crane/Scarecrow, the physically weak but dangerous villain of Batman Begins.
